Hybrid Internet on a DSL connection

Hybrid 5G is the further development of the LTE Hybrid already available on the market. Hybrid 5G adds additional data rates via mobile communications to the bandwidth of the Telekom landline connection as soon as the Internet can deliver data faster than it can be transported via the landline.

As soon as the bandwidth on the landline connection is no longer sufficient to receive the data delivered by the servers at maximum speed, 5G/LTE mobile communications are automatically added to the landline bandwidth. This works via an aggregation node in the Telekom network. This distributes the data packets via the landline and adds mobile communications if this allows the data to be transported more quickly. The data packets via landline and mobile communications are then brought together again in the router.

The combination of DSL and mobile communications in Hybrid G5G Hybrid footnote offers two advantages:

• Thanks to the bundling of DSL and hybrid 5G, much higher data rates are also possible in rural areas.
• If you experience problems with your landline, you will automatically continue surfing via the mobile network. This means that Internet outages are virtually impossible.

Hybrid 5G provides additional bandwidth via mobile communications to the existing landline connection. Depending on the utilisation of the mobile network, additional speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s for downloads and 50 Mbit/s for uploads are possible.

Hybrid G5G Hybrid Footnote is offered with a package consisting of a separate 5G receiver and the Speedport Smart 4 router.

The 5G receiver captures the 5G radio waves and forwards them to the Speedport. 

When combined with the 5G receiver, the Speedport Smart 4 offers even greater speed and stability by processing the 5G signal from the receiver and boosting your internet signal through the bandwidth of the 5G network.

The two devices are connected via a separate 10-metre flat cable. This can also be easily laid through window seals.

To optimise 5G/LTE reception, you should attach the 5G receiver outdoors – either to the wall of your house, a window pane or a window sill, depending on your preference (mounting materials are included in the scope of delivery).

You can monitor the mobile reception quality via an LED display on the 5G receiver. If 5G reception conditions are poor, the receiver automatically switches to LTE.
